Starting Over

LSD and the search for God

A music video of the song starting over, LSD and the search for God using clips I filmed over my two-week break of my gold DofE and a trip to Yorkshire, two big events in my year, paired with videos of me and my friends when we hang out. As well as a woman and man singing the lyrics of the song.

Proposal

1. Rationale

This year I have learnt the behind the scenes of TV/film production through my units nine and ten which involved creating a pitch for an animated series and a trailer for a short horror film. I have now gained the skills to develop my underst5anding and ability with (-semi-professional film making. During my until 9 work I had the roll of cinematographer, which is a roll I haven't had whilst working in a group before. Being behind the camera was very enjoyable for me as it let me develop my tech skills and my creativity. Comparing this to what I knew before I have moved out pf my comfort zone of director rolls to pursue a more hands on in the physical creation. This has given me the experience to create my FMP.

I have chosen my FMP based on my struggles in and outside of college and how that has affected the amount of time I'm able to spend on this project. I have chosen to do a music video because I can use footage, I have previously filmed to cut production time in half. I also love making music videos outside of college, so I already have strong skills needed to create this project.  

2. Project concept

Am going to create a music video of the song 'Starting over' by 'LSD and the search for God' with a home video style of filming, using footage I have recently filmed to make a visual diary of my dofe, trip to Yorkshire and recent adventures.

My concept is using these clips to show a story of the good in my life and use this project to appreciate and encapsulate the memories I've created with my close friends. Pairing this with a song that hold strong sentimental value to me helps me tie everything together. I will have some breaks to have footage of someone lip syncing the lyrics of the song, I will be researching similar types of videos and creating a short essay on this research. I have been inspired to create this because of last year's Y2 students FMP that was a music video of a Mitski song. I anticipate that I will create a 5-minute-long music video showcasing my skills in edited and filming that I have learnt over the last two years. I will be using my digital Olympus camera to film and premiere pro to edit the clips I have already filmed.

I will incorporate study with 3+ hours of work outside of college for paperwork and editing and constantly filming what I can for my project. For the lip syncing I will be spending an evening filming someone singing the song in various locations, I will create a location recce and risk assessment. I will also go into college when I can to edit using the college computers if necessary. 

3. Evaluation

I intent to evaluate my work with a consistent reflection journal describing my daily tasks, decisions and mistakes as well as peer reviews of both my music video and research documents on home video style media projects. This will be done with long answer forms reviewing the specifics of what I could improve, change and learn from as well as where my project has shown skill and overall entertained them, so that I can create a conclusion at the end of my project. I will record my decision-making process and mistakes I have learnt from within my reflection journal and conclusion.
